About the Name

In Woody Allen's groundbreaking 1969 film "Take the Money and Run", Virgil Starkwell's attempted bank robbery fails when he hands the teller a stickup note which reads in part "I have a gub." (This is two flipped ASCII text bits away from "I have a gun.") The teller is too puzzled by the note to hand over any cash.

The name Gubcast was chosen to salute this milestone in the history of communication. Also, it was an unclaimed seven-letter ".com" domain.
